报告人:Prof. Philip Shapira
 
Philip Shapira is Professor of Innovation, Management and Policy at the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research, Manchester Business School, UK, and Professor of Public Policy at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), Atlanta, USA. His interests include the assessment of emerging technologies, innovation management and policy, industry analysis, regional innovation, and policy evaluation. Prof. Shapira leads research on nanotechnology research and innovation trajectories as part of the NSF-sponsored Center for Nanotechnology in Society at Arizona State University. He has authored or co-authored multiple papers on nanotechnology-related topics, including articles on nanotechnology search terms, national benchmarking of nanotechnology research and innovation, nanotechnology funding, shifts to active nanostructures, the location of multi-national nanotechnology R&D, spillovers from universities to small nanotechnology firms, nanotechnology district emergence, and nanotechnology commercialization. Prof. Shapira’s research articles have appeared in Nature, the Journal of Nanoparticle Research, Research Policy, the Journal of Technology Transfer, Asia Business Management, Small Business Economics, the International Journal of Technology Management, Scientometrics, and other international technology and innovation journals. He is also pursuing research on industrial innovation and on enterprise strategies in emerging green goods sectors. Prof. Shapira has served as an expert panelist or advisor for international agencies, including the OECD and the World Bank, and as member of the policy board of Pro-Inno European Innovation TrendChart. He was previously a Congressional Fellow with the Office of Technology Assessment, United States Congress. Prof. Shapira currently chairs the US National Academies Panel on 21st Century Manufacturing: The Role of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership Program of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and recently served as a Commissioner with the UK Northern Economic Futures Commission. He co-directs the Innovation Co-Lab (University of Manchester, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Beijing Institute of Technology) – an international collaboration to advance methods and capabilities for analyzing global technology emergence. Prof. Shapira is an editor of The Theory and Practice of Innovation Policy: An International Research Handbook (Edward Elgar, 2010). He holds a PhD in City and Regional Planning from the University of California, Berkeley.
