Yuhao Cen, Ph.D. Assistant Dean
Associate Professor Research interest Student development, college impact, educational inquiry, comparative higher education Dr. Cen studies college experiences of Chinese students, at both undergraduate and (post)graduate levels. Her research focuses on how students develop in college, as well as the contexts in which students learn and grow. Her dissertation project, Growth as product and as process: Student learning outcomes attained through college experiences in China, won the 2013 CIES Higher Education SIG Best Dissertation Honorable Mention Award. She has been recipient of Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Student Abroad, OYCF-Gregory C. and Paula K. Chow Teaching Fellowship, Faculty Doctoral Fellowship (Indiana University, 2006-2008), AIR/NCES/NSF National Summer Data Policy Institute Fellowship, among many other research, teaching and travel grants. Dr.Cen serves as a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of College Student Development. Dr. Cen teaches educational inquiry courses and research seminars, following the learning partnership model that validates learners' capacity in knowledge construction. At GSE,Cen is affiliated with the Center for the Study of Graduate Education, where she collaborates with her colleagues on several research and evaluation projects on graduate-level teaching and learning. Dr. Cen is also the co-director of International Summer School at GSE, which has brought distinguished scholars and outstanding graduate students around the globe for academic conversations on higher education issues. Dr. Yuhao Cen serves as a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of College Student Development between 2016 and 2019, and is the Assistant Dean for the Graduate Studies since 2015. Cen earned her B.A. in English Language and Literature and a B.A. in Economics from Peking University, and a Ph.D. in Education Policy Studies at Indiana University-Bloomington. |
