The Center for World-class Universities (CWCU) was founded and it was approved as a strategic research unit by the Chinese Ministry of Education

June, 2005. The First International Conference on World-Class Universities (WCU-1) was launched and organized by CWCU.

November, 2005. The 2005 Annual Meeting of National Association of Study in Higher Education was hosted by IHE.

February, 2007. The Academic Ranking of World Universities by Broad Subject Fields (ARWU - FIELD) 2007 was published on the web for the first time; it was updated every February thereafter.

2007. The first English book on world-class universities, World-Class University and Ranking: Aiming beyond Status, edited by Professor Nian Cai Liu and Dr. Jan Sadlak was published.

October, 2007. The Third Meeting of the International Rankings Expert Group (IREG-3) was hosted by IHE.

November, 2007. The Second International Conference on World-Class Universities (WCU-2) was organized by CWCU. | ||

The Graduate School of Education (GSE) was founded on the basis of IHE, besides the CWCU, two other centers was established, namely Center for the Study of Graduate Education ( CSGE ) and Center for Science & Technology Policy ( CSTP ) | ||
